Valentines Day - Amish Style

This Valentines day, Ron and I decided to keep it low key. We started the day by heading out to Lititz (which you may remember from earlier posts) for their annual Fire and Ice Festival.

We missed the chili cookoff to have a nice lunch at home but we saw plenty of ice!

There were hundreds of ice sculptures all over the main city streets. We enjoyed popping in and out of cute little stores and admiring the handiwork of local ice artisans.

Ron found a roost of metal chickens made of scraps from old barns.

We also stopped for our first authentic Dutch Country Pretzle.... which we decided pales in comparasin to Auntie Anne's.

For Dinner, Ron and I enjoyed an Amish Sweetheart Supper at Katie's Kitchen. This Amish-owned diner hosted a candlelight dinner complete with a rose-petal covered floor, flowers and chocolates on the tables and a beautiful snowy night as a backdrop.

Ron and I agreed that this was one of the simplest and best Valentines Days we could have had.

Sounds like a nice day! We're "cooking" up a similar event over in East Petersburg.

Autie Anne's are dutch pretzels, Anne lives in Gap, her maiden name is Smucker, she grew up Amish, and yes I am related to her :)
