Finland: Helsinki

There’s not a lot I can say about Helsinki. It’s pretty bland. The people are pretty. It’s a comfortable city to be in. Clean, bright, safe, spread out. There’s not a lot to look at or do. We had hoped to go to the Arctic Ice Bar but it is closed during the day on weekdays, so…. Yeah… We just wandered around town in the chilly sunshine and hoped for something to pop out at us. Nothing did. We found our way to The Church in the Rock which is known to the Finnish people as Temppeliaukio Kirkko. The church is not a building, but rather a cavern type structure formed entirely out of a giant boulder and surrounding rocks. The ceiling is a long copper cord coiled around and around and formed into a dome. It’s sort of an interesting place and one of the main attractions to visitors. And that’s really about it. So there ya go. That’s Finland.
